Peter Bergner’s Plastic Figure Finds for German Plastic Show Herne Germany March 2018 we have a preview. As my readers know one of my many good dear friends from Germany is Peter Bergner. I know Peter for more than 25 years. Laurie and I have had many great times with Peter including the German Plastic show. The show is now in its 25 year. We were at the first shows but the last few years have been unable to attend.
One highlights of his show is the boxes of surprises. Peter has given us a sample of what may be in these boxes.

Peter Bergner’s Plastic Figure Finds for German Plastic Show Herne Germany March 2018 Part Two
What is always interesting is to see what American figures showed up in Europe. Here you can several Beton army and Timmee army and air force. The Timmee are common poses you can find here.
Peter acquired Polish figures for his better boxes. These figures are hard plastic factory painted. Two of the figures are in top row are from Warsaw uprising set. They will be in his better price box.
Here some more Polish figures a Timmee sailor and Ideal naval officer. The red figure maybe a German soldier done in Turkey. The Lido soldier is a copy with a base.
Finally an interesting Mexican which I do not recognize.
These and other figures will be available at the German Plastic Show on March 18 in Herne Germany. The show is at Kulturzentrum between 11AM to 4PM.
Jean hoefler are variation poses made in France.
Sold as suple….
The Spanish spacemen are copies of Jecsan apolo set of 12 poses by small maker copier that distribute tben in France, belgium and other countries.they are not same scales or detail as Jecsan.
Best
Lido gis w base were made in Spain.they did ACW w bases too.French FFL,marine -soldiers are later made in France too.
By Vilco I think is brand name or something alike. The maker did cheap copies of starlux , guilbert, quiralu ,cofalu and other Original french marck in not painted sets mix poses in 52 to up to 60 mm plastic sold in packs, bags else
Best
As always, these German shows look fun.
If Spain copied the Lido GIs and Lido Civil War figures, but added bases, that was a 100% improvement. As a little boy, trying to set up original Lido figures without bases was an exercise in frustration.
How much better those colorful Lido French Foreign Legion and American Revolution figures would have been with bases! They were inexpensive enough that you could have set them up in great formations, but without bases, they just weren’t stable enough to remain standing for very long.
The best part.they are still very common in Spain from dealers there at cheap price in bags.
The Gis were reduced a bit in scale versus original.
Here is direct link of german jean hoefler explaining the french made version space set above. It show only few poses .

NOW that’s a Sombrero!!!
I have impression admin showed same style figure mexican just different pose before here .
I may be wrong.
Best
The Mexican’s face is very well done. Is he 54mm? The sombrero looks weird, but it is an actual style that was used.
Yes that hat was used a lot .Is true.
Best
About picture with supposedly US made figures lot.i have doubt all are depicting as from US are.
Some appear to me copies made in Europe or else .
The Beton figures were copied in many countries ,actually cloned 100% to be hard to distinguish from original and the one in blue looks with odd faces and poor detail not as original so to me are copies with poor detail.
The Tim Mee two far right soldiers;grenadier and minesweeper are too small to be original as far i can see in odd angle of photo, but i could be wrong.
Tim mee copies in 52/56 mm were made in Spain, france and italy as well by many cheap manufacture .Even a Argentina firm did same set in 52 mm as well.
The sailors/air force TM look very crude done too in far picture
The kneeling looks original or German factory TM made .
The non US copied or original I can see are.
Light blue marine infantry COFALU or copy that match and belong to same set poses figure depicted in light blue next to LIDO copy Gi’s.too .I have entire set ,kent Spretcher did sold those as well too i think.
The polish figures made in stiff plastic are a mix from many sets all attributes generally to one sole brand but according to polish collector are not same maker.
They are generally attributed to PZG Żołnierzyki PRL.
The flat modern warsaw pact polish soldier with AK 47 is also from same polish brand and belong to large many poses flat set with armored cars ,cannon and else too.
If you are interested in polish figures and willing buy direct from poland you may find many deals direct here asi had in past.

The dark blue next to flat polish soldier with AK 47 is made in france or a copy of it.
The red figure i think a copy of British form or else ,hard to see he angle and distance .
I made be wrong.
I don’t know and never see the officer nice pose well done figure of French 1855-1914 in yellow color.
my thoughts
Best…
They may or may not original American the facts that these poses showed up is interesting. The Timmee are very likely from West Germany production that we have talked about in the past. The Ideal naval officer in other photo is definitely American. Yes Beton was copied I would have to have them in my hand for final confirmation as I have handle hundreds of their figures.
I am interested in finding out more about that French officer as well. Great figure! I would love to see the rest of the set.
The French officer in yellow plastic is actually just a private in 1914 uniform, it’s part of a set of three First World War figures, the other two being a Highlander in kilt and balaclava and an ANZAC in shorts and sun helmet. Don’t know who made them, they are very good sculpts and are very hard to find, they mostly seem to turn up in the UK. I have always thought they were made to go with parachutes because of the pose and lack of a base, this type of toy was very popular here in the 1960’s
The set of flat Warsaw pact soldiers were sold in many Iron Curtain countries, they came in poly bags with multicolour header cards, I picked up a set in the old Czechoslovakia in 1986, the armoured cars and cannon are way under scale for the figures.
The figures are nice. Fun to see and bring back good memories. The other important 50% of the equation is the buildings and accessories that comprise play sets and displays. The BIG thing I miss about Barzso is the truly great accessories he produced. I buy them whenever I can if prices are reasonable. The red and green Auburn Roundup accessories and, of course, old Marx interior and exterior town accessories are also part of my “treasures”, plus just about any wagons with Timpo as my current favorite. Tin and plastic buildings are also great. The two Marx Untouchables building with full original plastic parts are true works of art.
