Reader Contributions Plastic Figures February 2018 MPC in Germany
Markus found that he had in his personal collection some of the MPC cowboys and cavalry. The interesting things they were distributed in Germany. Here is what Makus has to say. The figures were sold under the name Plastofix.
Dr. Rolf Hein KG at Tuebingen who did distribute is still doing Pustefix soap bubbles. Kind of weird connection. I have never heard of Plastofix as indicated on header card before.
I had been to Tuebingen years ago to celebrate new years eve with some friends. Nice town. Very much preserved even with buildings from medieval times. As card say licensed by Miner Industries Inc.
The figures are in the same colors as U.S. production so possible they were imported instead being made in Germany. Markus will check and see if there is any other information.
Reader Contributions Plastic Figures February 2018 Figures
Doing some research I found that Google had copied some of my photos. I thought I would share them again. The first photo is the Marx 101 Dalmations Cruella De Vil figure. the figures were done painted but some how I got a bunch of them unpainted. The figure on the right is the pharmacist. You will noticed that the figure is in an unusal color. Instead of normal cream it is in blue. I believe this is a test shot that was done of the mold.
On the left is one of the Tom Corbett aliens. This color was done for a Wagon Wheels Macorni. Imanaged to get my mother to buy it. I used the figure as a super villian. Figure on the right is one of the Marx schoolhouse children. Once again the color is wrong. Normally the figure is in cream. this might be a reissue from Mexico. I had bought a school bus and the figure might have been set. I found in Nogales. After my mother died I took my aunt and uncle to Las Vegas and then to Phoenix. We did a little trip to Nogales.
Those MPC metalic blue cavalry and the WW2 G.I.’s were also imported into the UK by a firm called Peter Pan Playthings, I had some dealings with the company back around 1975/6, they were looking for a wholesaler and sent me a box of samples but the price wasn’t right so I passed on them. I don’t recall ever seeing them on sale in England so maybe they ended up going over to Germany?
It is interesting how figures from the U.s, got either made or imported to other countries. Peter Evans gavea paint by number set from Italy that used MPC figures.
The pharmacist in right I think was posted before here too.
I like it x my gangster set to be use for.
The MPC have the same late color used in forts sold by Toy Street distributor! I may be off in brand correct name but I had posted here some before w links too.It is same seller brand sold some reisdues using MARX set in their forts plaset often mix w MPC in late 80s till early 90s
I have same USCW cavalry in metallic from former playset.
Best.
Best
Yes the pharmacist was post sometime before. I just borrowed back my photos from Google.LOL
I wonder if other different colored Skyscraper figures are out there?
They would be great to have and probably not cheap. I think I can
recall multicolored Untouchables from Mexico, but never saw the
Skyscraper set.
Multicolored Untouchables in yellow, red, purple, blue, etc. came in bags labeled “Articulos de Fiesta” & “Party Fiesta” from Mexico.
Yes the Marx Untouchables were done in the multicolors. I had abunch of the gangsters firing maching gun that were damaged. Don’t know where those disaapeared to. The skyscraper people were never in Mexico but were rumored to be else where in the South America. I never got a confirmation.
the blue of the pharmacist is in a color I have seen other figures in included 45mm Tom Corbett set and the Boltar.
Similar to topic, the Ft. Apache pack horses with bridle, etc. were made in blue, yellow, and red. Wonder if the blue pharmacist is in any way connected to them? I have only one red one with pack & bridle. I was told these were sold in hanger packs by J.C. Penney in the ’80s.
I have never seen the other colors you mentioned.
Bidding already getting high:
