Update from Alex to me just now..
I just was inform right now the material used is specific type of caoutchouc or natural rubber latex ,easy to bend yet able to adequate straight form when come out mold .
    Best

    • denitz says:

I saw this figures and it’s NOT NATURAL material anyway. Mikhail try make figures close to early Conte rubber and, I think, “caoutchouc or natural rubber latex” said just about bend and durability characteristic.

      • Les White says:

Would this be the same rubber like material used for the AIRFIX copies and the Russian OMON special forces figure copies made in Russia and sold on Ebay ?

  2. Jeremy Haupt says:

Much respect out to Mikhail of Plastic Platoon for creating these masterpieces!!!! The NVA and VC sets are unbelievable!

  3. Henry P. says:

is the spikes ornamental or just a molding cavity will they have to be cut from the figures? it looks like their using a new material hopefully it will bring down the price i really like these figures i just can’t bring myself to buy anymore 10 dollar a piece figures and not even get a second copy for panting if i could get them for even 5 dollars a figure i would buy them i just cannot stand how my publius figures always came broken i have personally decided not to buy anymore figures from Russia because of this it’s quite a shame cause i really like them but if their going to come broken i cannot do business with makers outside of the us

Is the guy with the RPG wearing a GI tin pot?

    • Mark T. says:

I think it is a Soviet style helmet. The rim of it looks like the Russian ww2 helmet.

      • ed borris says:

Well, I guess either would make sense.

      • ERWIN SELL says:

Yes it is a Soviet/russian helmet from 1941 WW2 or more possible later revised 1944.The NVA used a lot of those but not much in field as very heavy for most asian people I had wore it and is the heaviest helmet ever plus very big .The NVA also used japanese old stock pile of helmets as well French M51 helmets derivative from US m1 from previews indochina war and were supplied too w m 55/56 East germany helmet, especially in infantry mechanized units in the 1971/1973 offensive .
A tropical hat and a variation of Japanese war officer cap was made in vietnamese north factory with the phenolic (plastic-impregnated cardboard) sun-helmet also call simple Pit helmet.

My experience with natural latex rubber, is that it deteriorates over time. Any expert opinions on soldiers cast in natural latex rubber?

    • ERWIN SELL says:

Since 90s all natural rubbers are done using the process Vulcanization that cure=give a life expand of over 100 years least without losing it main properties such flexibility else plus adding new..Of Course depending in to the use and exposure adverse with weather or erosion it may reduce its properties .In medical pieces as well toys it is highly recommended if eliminating the latex properties as will may cause some allergic reaction to some .Among the new addition that may result of vulcanization is the the fact that these rubber flota in water and not sink as old rubber natural toys that usually sink in water. It is because vulcanization. It has a higher useful temperature range unlike uncured rubber which becomes soft at high temperature >335K and brittle at low temperatures <283K.

The OWN brand soldiers i imported were made using some sort of natural rubber as well.try ben one rifle all the way back and will see won’t brake ,yet come back all the way to straight position right away.
        best.

  6. Tom Black says:

How does the Latex Rubber take primer and paint?

    • ERWIN SELL says:

As far prime and most new paint will do great according to painters i know and had work with it in the case of Publius two indian sets they had painted and were made exact type material.
      best.

    • Henry P. says:

im scarred to death to paint my publius figures good luck with it though i wish they were a tad less expensive or at least gave you a second copy they would look beautiful painted especially their Indians i got a bunch of their vikings and Saxons if they ever made a civil war range i doubt i could resist its such a shame such beautiful figures have to be so much or else i would buy at least 3 copies of each set i like to have 3 of each pose one for extra one for paint and one for keeping unpainted or unaltered with these figures though i could never convert them im not a huge converter i only convert inexpensive figures i can barely bring myself to chop up any of my tssd’s or paragons im talking more less imex figures and some other cheaper figures that i can get a thousand for without flinching at the price
