Plastic Figure Showcase Part Three January 2018 Jean of Germany

Jean Hoefler started making plastic figures in 1956. They did a number of figures including Napoleonic figures.  Jean did eight mounted and eight foot. The figures according to Kent Sprecher were first done in silver plastic then painted silver. The later recasts were in the white like mounted figure.

Jean Hoefler did 8 army figures. I know I have six of the eight figures. There are several reason I may not have the complete. First I might have all eight but they spread between several drawers for Germany.  Another reason I have not had to get every pose like other people.  Related to that is I have not had chance to get all the poses.

Getting back to the figures here are the poses.

  1. Army officer with pistol
  2. Bazooka man kneeling firing
  3. Soldier running with rifle at waist
  4. Soldier marching
  5. Machine gunner with gun propped on a piece of wall.
  6. Standing firing rifle
  7. Standing firing  grease gun
  8. Advancing with grease gun

These figures will go well with other 60mm figures.

Finally for now one of the twenty foot poses Jean did of Indians. they also did 8 mounted poses. The cowboys have the same number of poses.

Thanks for showing the Jean WW2 soldiers. I’ve never owned any, but Jean western figures are among my favorites, as my very first figures were from the Jean Fort Apache. I guess being a post-war German company, they could not produce German soldiers. What a shame… I wish they had done a complete WW2 line. One of my impossible toy soldier dreams would be to own a Jean-made WW2 Eastern Front playset with Russians and Germans. I love the sculpting style of Jean.

Does anyone have pictures of the Jean space figures? I have a memory from when I was quite small of seeing a display table in a store in my town full of plastic bags, each filled with about a hundred bronze colored Jean spacemen. Under the bags there was a deep layer of loose spacemen. I think they had detachable clear helmets. That store was a family-owned department store and they must have had contacts in Europe, because they sold many amazing toys from Germany and Italy that were not available anyplace else.

Yes most germans companies avoid the making WW2 soldiers sensitivity. But Elastolin did then.
The jean hoefler are most post WW2 NATO soldiers of possible german army. Original made in two colors as foes and allied.
Some armors and accessory s trenches were made x the soldiers as well.
the wrong call “Napoleonic poses set” represent each a Corp unit uniform of many germans nations during post napoleonic period. Not quite a regular one army set and more of statues type pose than action. The horses semi flat by Jean hoefler 4 poses are nice poses but odd reason in making then so flat ,a french companies did copy (not clone ) then .
Space set are not hard to find .I got several reissues packs and resold then few years back.
Markus will have more to add and mint sets samples possible.

      Best

Thanks for the info about the Jean astronauts. The website Erwin linked even had one in the same gold/bronze color I recall seeing as a kid.

  3. Mark McNamara says:

Some of their Napoleonics are not too bad and interesting, too bad the horses were not sculpted better !

  4. Erwin says:

Awesome job adim x this blog.
The best part anyone could post and no just google or watch as many other forums…

  5. ERWIN SELL says:

The so call “napoleonic jean hoefler” figures made are not quite napoleonic era soldiers. The original come with original German army regiment corp else unit belong represented in figure below with each pose engraved in base .These were partially painted over silver figures made often .
Then later the description was removed. They represent 1830-148 most uniform of German confederation armies
So far as extracted from database the poses are as follow.
    Foot
    Drummer, Hesse-Cassel, nf01
Rifleman, Großherzogtum Oldenburg (Hanseatische Brigade), shouldered Musket, nf02
    Prussian Guard Uhlan, saluting, nf03
    Bavarian Grenadier, nf04
    Trumpeter, Holstein Artillery, nf05
    Grenadier Officer with Sabre, nf06
Prussian Guard Grenadier with Musket, nf07
Officer Saxon Guard Division with Bicorne, saluting, nf08
    Mounted
    Hussar with Sabre, nb01
    Uhlan with Lance, nb02
    Hussar Bugler, nb03
    Guard Hussar with Sabre, nb04
    Uhlan, saluting, nb05
Mounted Officer with Bicorne, drawn Sabre, nb06.
While some uniforms are napoleonic period, others are posterior as well ,so no all quite napoleonic period .The possible reason in why are call “German confederation army set” 1815-1866 in some blogs ,catalog and books
    best…
