Made in late 70s to early 80s in Hong Kong by this brand sold by other distributed after as well in different packing .
The sets consist of 20 original swapped poses that can be swap to create all new poses as you like .
The sets as I got then come in rare odd mounted 4 poses per window case or/and 6 to 8 foot poses window packing as well. Soft plastic and not fragile as Timpo material.
The harness seat in horse appear to be made for these only and not same used in western horses I think.
Scale is real old typical 54 mm on straight standing pose .Accessories weapon set also were integrates often with Timpo copy trees and else. Figures were hold by rubber band and also by same card base box openings to a plastic hole with plastic base middle hole as well.
Set were original label as Shaolin temple warrior monks under Star Toys brand pack .Later under other distributors such Welo I saw as Kung Fu fighters or else named and engraved-label in the arch gate stand that come as accessory .
Star Toys Shaolin Warriors Monk Set More Information
Also the more older Blue Box set made previews but in more 58/60 mm with more deep detail was sold (as far i got then )as “monk warriors” set only in a vacuum form rectangular case with shape of each figure molded in . I do not know how many poses the BB brand did or sold ,so far I got only these 9 poses in one set as child from my brother and you can see the Chinese facial detail in the faces so well depicted versus more simple Star Toys brand made in last photo.
See compare pictures of Star Toys and Blue Box sold poses .
Both sets are complete original designed by Chinese and not copied or base in any other brand.
The figures have many use potentially for any wars from ancients till even Bruce Lee film depiction as well in my opinion.
The mounted poses are the more odd and unique choice of poses as is first time I see art martial made figure on horses depicted.
These are really nice figures and I have about 30 of these Warrior Monks. I think I have all the poses of the slighty smaller 54mm figures, But this is the first time ive seen the bigger Blue legged figures and I dont have any of these.
Darren.Yes the 54 mm are more common and pack sold under other brands ,i had seen then even in bags .The 60 mm Blue Box sold as i got then ,never see anymore so far in packs again, some loose in mix lots.I post more pictures in facebook blog HongKong figures that a collector and me are the admin of it .here is the direct link if want see more close up pictures else.Hope ok with stads here post this link ,if not feel free remove of course.

Thanks Erwin, Nice looking figures and I hope to get some in the future.
Hey Darren.
Maybe you should try coming to this year’s PW show. ?
I agree you should go. There is so much fun wish we could be there.
Yeah as I said last year it is a show that I would like to go to at least once. I was all set to go and a nice guy who’s name escapes at the moment offered to take me there by car, But I made a right mess of things by getting the date wrong and thinking it was a different weekend. I did email the guy to apologise but he didn’t get back to me, I guess he had the right hump with me which is fair enough. So my health hasn’t been to good over the last 8 months and I wont bore you with the details, So when it comes around again it depends on how difficult the journey might be? And if i’m well enough to attend the show, But if all is well which hopefully it will be I would like to go, Buts lets see.
I’ve wanted to get some of these ever since I saw them on the fantasy toy soldier blog last year. That saddle looks familiar to me. I had a couple in rubbery silver that I got in a Hong Kong swoppet cowboy and indian set back in the 70s.
I had not compare the saddles ,when took photos about few month back making this post I forgot check others,it could be easy be same used in others. Is not from the Medieval swappet HK from Star Toys or others definitely or the St toys and BB swopet herald style HK made but could be from others .I need check that out soon.Yes i saw the fantasy blog few poses listed no long ago too and it prompt me to post mine as i have so far more poses plus original accessories and the early 60 mm version more accurate detailed made of what i had not seen any cince child so far on sale anywhere .
best
I’m wonder if some the horses poses were chosen as to fighting Kung fu too.LOL
Pretty cool ! Add to other Kung Fu ( tv show ) figures like MPC !
