Laurie and I did some flea markets today as the weather was so nice. The first flea market is held on the first and the third Sunday. The quality has gone down from previous years, still we find items for resale and the collection. We walked around and one dealer had lot of Johnny West items including two Custer figures. I passed on the lot and continued on. Another dealer had some vehicles and airplane model kits which I picked up. Otherwise there was nothing else to look at so we did the second flea market.
We arrived at the second flea market and I started to walk around. I ran into an old friend Mike who I have know for 40 years. I first met him when he sold Japanese anime Magazines. Mike and his wife deal in various collectibles mostly character items. I got from him some Van Brode figures and a Marx Wimpy figure. Mike told me he and his wife had done Brimfield. He said that two best days of Brimfield were ruin by Hurricane Issac. He will go back.
I continue to walk around and saw some plastic figures out for sale. One dealer had some Timmee Air force figures and two Auburn Army figures in rubber. Another dealer had picture box Marx Fort Apache for $60.00. One dealer I had bought from before had two Britains wagons, but I had passed on them the previous Wednesday so I was not interested. In the second last row, I ran into John who was set up with figures and other items. We talked about various items one of the items was sad. Jeff’s (I do not know his last name) wife had passed away. She had recently diagnose with cancer. Jeff sells on Ebay. I brought some Marx space figures from John and headed back to the car.
Laurie and I stopped at diner we found several months ago. The food is very good. We tried the diner the night before for the first time for dinner. We both got one of their specials. For $9.95 we got our entree, vegetable, soup and salad bar. It was good and we will go back.
