Odds and Ends 9/2/12

Well the summer is almost over. Laurie and I got out today to one market, but found very little. We ran into our very good friend John with his wife Marie, who was set up. John had found nothing either, but done some decent selling. He told me that the flea markets had been slow this summer and he had found very little. We felt otherwise as we had found a number of items this year, less than lastyear, but still enough to make it fun. We have some up coming shows in October and November which will make the year worthwhile.

We decided to head to another flea market, but it started to rain so we went to a local diner we like. I learned from my father that you had a good meal after a show and I try to follow that philosophy when I can.  The rest of the weekend looks to be a washout, which is no lost as one flea market that is on Monday has been a disappointment for years. This year we found a buffet is open we like on Labor Day so instead of our usual hot dogs and corn we will go there. The price is only $6.00 a person so you can not go wrong.

Who says playsets are dead just look at Lego. We were at a Lego store at a mall in New Jersey yesterday and saw their line of  Lord of the Rings and  Super Hero playsets. The Lego store besides having the prepackaged items has buckets where you can select your own color parts.  You can also make their own figures from parts they have available. These figures are not cheap, if I read the sign right one figure is $9.99.

We had not been at this mall in three years and will not be back for another ten years. Laurie call the woman’s stores axoeric stores as they had women’s clothes only in skinny sizes. She walked into one place and they had the women’s clothes in European sizes.  Laurie replied we are not in Europe.  The mall has no book stores and other than Lego no toy stores. A number of places had  no prices up making feel if you had to ask the price you could not afford it.
