Last night I watched the second show of Toy Hunters and all I can say what a train wreck. The first part of the show was like previous week on seeking items this time in Austin Texas. Jordan was looking for items for an auction. I questioned his purchase of the Mego Kiss dolls due to the figures being loose and two of the figures needing repairs.
The next part was the auction. I thought Jordan’s items would be at a collectible auction. It was sold at Bodnar’s Auctions which is great auction and does collectibles (more in a minute), but not a place I would sell items for resale and big profit . Bodnar’s Auctions gets some amazing items, they have 20,000 piece comic book collection going up for sale next month. They sold this year a 17,000 piece Disney pin collection. I know that they have had some bloody wars on toys that went on for hours. Laurie and I have looked at this auction several times and have passed on it. The problem is you can have 800 or more lots of toys. Many of the people at the auction are going to buy items for resale as they will have a number of items bundled into lots. So a lot could be one item or twenty or more. One final problem with this auction is the entire space is covered with items for sale. When we were there one time in another section they were selling a large collection of cermanic cats and still another area was household items. Because the space is covered with auction items there is no space to sit and you are standing through the auction which can go for hours.
If you saw the show items with the exception of Barbie doll he had in auction losemoney. Barbie gave him a profit of $600.00. It did not as he had commissions to pay on his items plus the overhead of his Austin trip. It was very dissapointing. I can see why toy dealers are complaining.
