Plastic Figure Showcase Part 3 October 2017 Figures Information MPC
I was looking at the new Hakes auction when I found an unusual MPC set. The playset is by Ledy of Mexico. The playset is a mash up of the MPC character figures and several accessories. Playset also has a battery operated Thunderbirds Excavator. This was made by Bandai. The set is called Serie Apolo Electronica Escavador Lunar. The set is interesting reused of molds.
Update: Erwin says Hake has the information wrong. Here is his reply.
The set is call (moon excavator LEDY ) or in Spanish (escavador lunar LEDY);being LEDY the name of excavator machine as usually space robots machines are given name .
Made by factory named – (CIA.industrias de novedades plasticas in metallicas .S.A )
the toy do not have patent number written and space in blank as possible partial copy but has registration production number as massive produced 33245 in that box indicated .
They change the name Lady to Ledy as to differentiate from other toy using same similar name with name Lady made in same year.

One of the questions we had on the new Blue Box camping figures wwas how the compare to other figures. Here we have a Marx jungle hunter with various Blue Box figures. What do you think?
MPC made the Green Berets or Special Forces in Hong Kong. I have only been able to purchase them once at Hackensack. I am waiting to see what surprises show up.
We have here a Reisler cowboy holding a rifle in his right hand. Reisler would do figure that were one piece or the arms have to be glued on.
Here we have an unknown Roman very likely a charioteer.
Marx did three character figures that were used with a farm set. They were from the Lassie show. The figures were Jeff shown above, Gramps and acourse Lassie. The figures are in reissue. The Gramps figure you might be able to use in a western setting .
This Timpo figure of cowby squatting gave me a lot of trouble placing a weapon in his right. I do not know if the diameter of the hole in his hand was too small but I had a hard time. Finally I got a knife in his hand and photographed him for Ebay.
Update: I tried a whip but the handle would not go in so I used a knife.
Those Green berets are the ones i post here before asking if any other pose missing or not .I like then x Viet Nam scanes now ..
http://www.stadsstuff.com/?p=9417
the figures often are sold in the range Hong kong in ebay in packs and loose ,that is why not easy find as few brand them as MPC.
In my opinion…
At simple view the (“roman “) or ancient looks a conversion made out of one or two figures painted over like from marx egyptian but not quite ,also i see PUCHOL style as well there..but i could be wrong and a pose alike i had seen before but with weapons ,Will have to do research later …I like the cowboy from Reisler ,one of the never reissued early poses.
The new BB figures are way too modern to blend with Marx in clothing ,they better blend with modern Safari figures,US toys explorer set ,possible New Ray early not later sets and rare explorer poses sold at dollar stores few years ago .My thoughts.BB vintage series did a safari set using early poses from TARZAN first BB poses hunter and explorer and a copy of land rover from Gorgy,it has also cameraman new rare pose very nice ;i have it and i had not find alike as it in any brand.
The New BB i will give them a better use in viet nam as civilian reporters and possible Air force personnel .
my thoughts…
Paul, That Timpo cowboy usually holds a whip, which is why you can’t force something else into his hand. The top half of that figure is usually a coach/wagon driver. I’m not sure if that’s a real Timpo pose or just a figure that someone stuck two halves together.
The Timpo is a Swoppet=swappet so the legs usually original made for the shooting with rifle or kneeling firing with revolver and rafters poses was swapp as intentional toy made x that or belong to 3 er series edition
In 3 er series the pose as above was depicted in sets with A revolver in right elevated arm and rifle in his left with legs as that .
The torso pose with simple shirt and one pocket but not jacket is not meant to carry a Whip but knife/revolver (in striking position ) and possible rifle in striking odd position as well in his right hand and A rifle in left hand as i had seen in many sets original and sold all over Included a bandit pose made in black colors with face mask bandana.!!
The same torso was put on rider mounted pose with same weapons(revolver or rifle in his right hand ) not whip in 3 series as well .
Original poses with whips are as far i know…
The coach drivers poses(torso has shirt without pocket) that have their right arm much lower and left arm down at waist level and hand position in order to grab rains and or whips in either side .Same in US soldiers made as coacher/driver as well.
Running-foot with “jacket” over shirt torso with arms in higher a elevated poses and right arm close to head holding whip.It was also used x mounted pose as well .\
Lasso poses
The torso pose w lasso used in mounted or foot by changing torso has right arm position different in angle as well his left arm in opposite downward angle to grab rest of lasso cord .
Yet as swappet figures you can plug anything in any hand of course.
best…
The pose is real. I tried a whip but it would not go in. I feel the hole was not done right as I can only used knife. I will include a whip with it when it is sold.
All the Timpo cowboys I have with that torso are holding a rifle by the barrel as if clubbing someone one-handed. That’s the way they came from Timpo. Once I tried to put a pistol in one’s hand and split the hand at the thumb because the hole only fits either a rifle barrel or a knife.
The Timpo is from 3 series seta.
The revolver goes reverse.Grabed by barrel. That is how was sold
original as if striking w it.
The rifle by tip also but of course less realistically.
Knife does not fit properly….
The knife held in long enough to take the picture. I tried a pistol and it did not work.
I also tried a rifle it did not work either.
The Timpo 3er SERIES swoppet pose could be see here in this web site german store x sale in mounted pose far to right and bottom (in all white colors kneeling) as admin pose has with either rifle or revolver used as striking weapons grab by barrel .
Note a pose with arrow but jacket over shirt different torso designed very alike was done x torso as well using same weapons .

Kent Sprecher has same pose as admin but with not weapons depicted as well.
You guys may want check this site i post before here as well..

I really like the Roman figure and I havent seen him before, I suppose he could be a conversion?
Looking closer at the Romans figure, He looks like he might be made of hard plastic, Perhaps French made?
Does the Reisler have a hat on his back? It would seem Reisler does a few body poses with a variance in the arms, at least on the guys that have movable arms.
The figure has a hat on the back. The arms are not movable. The figure was also done firing two pistols according thereisler web site.
That’s the one I have firing two pistols,
On mine both the arms move.
On Kent’s site he has a mint on card selection of the Green Beret’s , it is under his comments tab, he’s had that up on his site for a number of years now. ( it’s below his detailed description on Gibbs Custer, so you have to scroll down quite a bit.)
The MPC swoppet Green Berets remind me of the Italian companies like Nardi, etc. I think it’s the slimness of the figures, the dramatic poses and the way the faces are painted. They look just like Nardi.
I agree in the observation of style Mark T ,good point.Very stylized derived from previous poses of MPC and possible Marx too.
Talking about Nardi ,they did a large WW2 series with awesome armor in true scale x the time era as toys in my thoughts..
Best.
Yes, I think the grenade thrower is an exact copy of the Marx 6 inch Marine (except the head, of course)
I have seen the Nardi WW2 figures, but never the armor. I’ll have to check some of the Italian soldatini websites for pictures. I really like the Nardi figures. I don’t have any, but I wish I did. Kind of envy the Italian guys who got to play with them as kids.
They did a King Tiger, sherman 88 mm very well done in detail and in 60/65 mm scale least, all plastic .Also a British antitank and others as well two trucks ,one German one American .Would those mold still exist will be a a gold x armor collectors to build massive armor battles today
Unfortunately the history of Nardi is well know as the fire that destroyed the factory and all but few molds survived.Right after the company close .Included the Paraguay factory with western molds producing .
Sad history
The Roman looks like someone broke and twisted a paper clip and made it in to a whip.
Does anyone know about Timpo Vikings with long hair and moustaches/beards? I’m wondering if the helmets are easily removable and if the heads have holes or posts. I want to use the heads on cowboys with cowboy hats, derbies, etc..
I will check mine later….
But helmets are glue to head from factory and will not recommend try remove….
I’ve seen the long haired Viking heads on black suited cowboy outlaws and they looked GREAT!! Thanks for checking.
A quick check.Helmets are mold funded w head ,so only cutting it at plain lever where helmet edge en on head top will be good enough to attach/glue hat and will work fine .I see it very easy done in that way and is how they do ..hope it help…
Thanks, Erwin.
No the helmet are not easy to remove. I have not have seen a helmet come off.
Just a short note on Timpo cowboy.
Came sometimes with whip or winchester rifle.
Winchester should fit in. But would not force it because some hands have really small diameter. At least there are two whips. One with thicker one with thinner hold.
Only thinner works.
Sadly the whips I have are the thick ones. I got them when Laurie our late friend John I visited the Toyways factory.
Markus is right
OK, so I don’t feel so dumb anymore. I knew I saw that guy with a whip.
Erwin, good catch on the shirt pocket for the wagon driver. I would never have caught that but, then again, I am far from a Timpo expert.
I do love how colorful Timpo figures are. I’m sorry now that I sold my collection off.
