Delaware Toy Fall Show October 2017 is a show we like to do. It is a nice drive and we get to see some different dealers. After the show we stopped an authenic Mexican restaurant to catch a meal.
Delaware Toy Fall Show October 2017 The Show
We miss last year’s fall’s show due to their date conflicting with Hackensack. I was surprised to learn this year that they move to the show to an early date. We made plans and headed to the show. We arrived at the show and went in. The show has two rooms. The room on right of the entrance had two of our friends Gerry Watts and Chris Lamont. We said hello and headed to the main floor.
Tom Black in the middle with some collectors
In the main room was a wide range of toys. Many of the tables have action figures. You could purchase the figures on the card or loose. Other toys were available, I was looking for plastic figures. We headed to the tables of Tom Black. Tom was at the first show we attended. He always has interesting items for sell.
I picked up several items for resell including two Britains Deetail aliens and Palmer Space figures. Also I found an odd figure for Laurie. It from an obscure cartoon.
Delaware Toy Fall Show October 2017 Mark McDermott
Some of the items on Mark’s table notice the igloos
More items from Mark’s table
Going through the show again, I found an old friend Mark McDermott hadtwo tables. I met Mark back in the early list days. He had help in doing some professional photos I needed. Mark had a number of interesting items odd color 54mm cavalry and the cardboard Welles Fargo building.
This building was done by John Pinkosky. Mark was not aware of this. The cabin had been owned by Tom Terry. Mark had bought a large part of Tom’s collection.
We headed back to the other room and Gerry’s tables. He had some Marx horses and pioneers plus various toys he had picked. Over at Chris’s table I made a trade of some action figures. As I was starting to leave I saw a dealer from Maryland I had bought from before. I got from him some various Marx pieces for resale. After saying our good byes we left.
Delaware Toy Fall Show October 2017 Thoughts
The show was very good for us. I was able to find a number of items for resale. the best was a lot of Gibbs Custer figures. Laurie got a number of items besides the one above and the strange figure from Tom Black.
I also found for her the two dragons. Sadly one is missing one of its wings. With them were the robot and other creature.
As to the show the crowd was down. There was a early buyers’ rush and after that the crowd was weak. I don’t know if the show was effected by the date change. We had fun.
We thank Mark McDermott for permission to use some of his photos.
The Brown type beast is smaller scale made first by HK sold under D& D among others in blister cards ,then bags .Still reissued wasted mold by China with other real dinosaurs figures often call or categorized as Chinasaurs by collectors. It is a copy of a bigger fantasy beast from series base in comics and cartoons made in 70s sold under license with heroes and villains human figures. .I can be wrong but may be from (the other world or Dungeons and Dragons or something similar/alike comics,)!?
I have an old entire set where few other rare beast are included.
Google under HK chinasaurs toy figures and will find more about.

Whereabouts was the show? I live near the Delaware border and might go in the future if I knew where it was.
The show is in New Castle Delaware not far from the Airport. here is the information on the next one
ToyShows.org will return to New Castle, Delaware in 2018 to the Nur Shrine Center on Saturday, April, 7th, for our Delaware Train & Slotcar Show. Them Sunday April 8th for April Fools Toy Show.
Thanks. Been to the Nur Temple in the past for train and gun shows. Will try to calendar next year’s show.
It is a nice little show not as strongas it was the first time but you never know what will show up. If you are into Mexican food stop at the farmerss market. the place is called La Jarrita. we would be there every week if it wasnot so far.
Mexican is always good, be it true Mexican or Tex-Mex. If you are in New Castle and looking for a change, go into downtown Old New Castle and try Jessop’s Tavern. It is a colonial themed place, on the right hand side about a block and a half above the river. Good food, relatively nice selection of beers, a little pricey. We will occasionally head down that way just to have lunch at Jessop’s.
Thanks for the tip, sadly the beer part is useless as neither of us drink beer. Laurie enjoytrue Mexican not Tex -Mex because traveling to Mexico. She work for a travel wholsaler and would go for a weekend if there was free space.
