Plastic Figure Showcase Part Two October 2017 looks at a number of items. we look at a color variation from Marx. Next TD Barnecutt had a question on Rel Trees. I show an interesting conversion of Marx 60mm Roman figures.
Plastic Figure Showcase Part Two October 2017 Marx Variation
A surprise at the Delaware Toy show was to get a color variation of the Marx telephone. The telephone pole was made for the Marx train sets. Over the years, I have seen it many times in dark brown. I was surprised to see it in chocolate. I wonder if this unique color or not.
Plastic Figure Showcase Part Two October 2017 Rel Trees
TD Barnecutt sent me an email asking me if I knew who made a tree he had seen. I recognized the tree as Rel. Rel did two different trees and two different catcus. The tree is in the less full version which TD saw. They also did a full version which shown above. The catcus version were small (shown above) and a large version.
TD asked if they had been reissue. I replied they had reissued from Mexico. TD wondered if anyone has them for sale. Do you know if anyone has them for sale?
Plastic Figure Showcase Part Two October 2017 Roman Conversions
One of the interesting items I picked up at the Delaware Toy Show were these conversions. The dealer had several of the some soft plastic 60mm Vikings and Romans.. I pass on them as they were out my price range. These were more reasonable. Whoever converted these figures took the spear out that must have been damaged. One was replace with a homemade spear. The other was given a partial standard.
Plastic Figure Showcase Part Two October 2017 Short Takes
With the success of the first series of Swoppet Britains decided to expand the line. One series of figures were British army. Some of the poses are
- Kneeling firing rifle
- Charging
- Marching
- Standing Firing rifle
- Mortar Team two figure set
- Stretcher party with wounded man three figure set
Here is a mounted Plasty Mexican firing pistol. As I said before I like Plasty as you can do many changes with them.

Andy thanks for the link. The trees appear correct but the asking price is more than I care to pay.
Lido made copies of the REL less full tree using it in their farm playset. I have a few REL trees in stock.
Thanks Kent, I’ll check your website. Are the trees only one sided?
yes the REL trees and cacti are one sided.
I’m not a big fan of Swoppet figures (or Swappit or whatever) but I do find I like Britains better than the others.
Admin,
There was no standing firing pose offered in the Britains ‘Swoppett’ British Infantry.
It could be made of course by changing the figure parts but wasn’t a standard configuration.
I’m sure you would have noticed this when you check Peter Coles Britains Herald book.

Thanks Andy, the pictures on that link are good because they show both sides of the trees – I had not realized that the REL trees were only one sided.
