This weekend was the Toytown at Macungie PA for Das Aws Fescht. I did not go on Saturday as Laurie was able to get tickets for Harvey starring Jim Parsons of “Big Bang Theory” for that day. I was not worried on missing the show as it had been bad the last few years. The one report I did get about Saturday confirmed that it was a disappointment. Another report told me that the action was on Friday morning, which I missed due to other commitments.
Laurie and I left on a bus tour to see “Harvey”. We arrived in New York City two hours before the show. We knew that 9th Avenue had a number of small restaurants of various ethnic foods. We like to find these restaurants as have long tired of the meat and potatoes places. We found a restaurant called Ardianna’s an Afghan restaurant. The food was different but similar to middle eastern and Indian food we like. We enjoyed our meals Laurie had eggplant dish and I had a lamb dish. The food was very good and we will go back when we are in New York again.
We walked around a little bit looking for cool spots as the city was quite hot and humid. We arrived at the theater about half hour before curtain time and got our seats. Harvey is about a man who sees a white rabbit, a six foot three inch rabbit. The cast was excellent and in the cast was Charles Kimbrough who had been on “Murphy Brown and Carol Kane from”Taxi”. The draw was Jim Parsons and he was excellent for the role. After the play several of minor cast members came out for a question and answer period. Also there was a party who was handling the mike who gave the history of the play. Also interesting was the theater had people who were doing signing for people of the hard of hearing. The show was at the old Studio 54 night club. Studio 54 had been a theater before it short period as famous in spot for people.
After the show, Laurie and I walked around looking for an ice cream shop. Not finding one, we went into a over price deli for a sandwich before catching the bus. The ride home was pleasant and we had a great time.
I don’t know if I could ever enjoy anyone but Jimmy Stewart do Elwood P. Dowd. Tried watching Bob Crane do a revival of Arsenic and Old Lace and he was pretty good in it, but the poor guy couldn’t hold a candle to Cary Grant.
Used to show both films in my psychology classes.
