Blue Box Civil War Set Crescent Copied Not Exactly Erwin looks at this interesting six figure set. Blue Box did poses that were inspired by other companies. So let’s take a look.
Blue Box Civil War Set Crescent Copied Not Exactly Introuduction
Like most of all Blue Box sets it has 6 poses. The figures were done in Confederate grey and Union blue plastic painted over.
The figures were often sold in window case boxes or blister packs. Figures were sold in window cases in some instances came with the copied Crescent WW1 18 pounds canon. Also included in the sets barricades which were also direct copied from Crescent. Later other Hong Kong firms copied and did a more down sized version. The same figures often confused as original Blue Box.

Some of the Blue Box poses have been described or considered by some as probably base on Crescent. Yet they are not direct copies or knock off in my opinion. The figures were made in early/mid 60s as well . The scale is 48/52 mm max, compatible with MPC and later BMC variation. made plus COMANSI 50/52 MM scale
While some poses may resemble Crescent poses from where the artist of Blue Box may or could had extracted the idea .The poses varied much from then in my opinion. In some instances they are better in detail and dynamism.
The banner pose is all new and detail of uniforms, length of weapons are much better versus Crescent in my view.

Also the bugler is more base on the Herald or Lido poses. He is holding a rifle. The Crescent bugler has a sword.
Also Crescent ACW and U.S. cavalry poses sets had been cloned and sold by Hong Kong and China too often adding to confusing matters as being Blue Box.
Blue Box Civil War Set Crescent Copied Not Exactly Final Information
BLUE BOX SET POSES .Note the design in paper banners with battles inscription. A nice historical-(souvenir!?) touch ,but not quite for historical era banner value I guess. Also note the banner pole is often missing. I wonder if it was molded short !?
Blue Box Figures with banners in this condition are hard to find.
I haven’t seen those before but they are really nice figures. The flags are very well done.
Here is a link with Crescent full poses sets ,it was supposed be included in post as well from seller to whom i ask permission and is a collector seller from Belgium with whom i often talk as well.

Aren’t those BRITAINS flags?
Not. They are BB original.
Then…. perhaps BRITAINS copied the Blue Box flag, because Britains swoppetts have a Confederate flag just like in the picture. Didn’t look closely at the Union flag, but looks to me the same design from both companies.
Mike …
I have 4 more banners and they have same exact just a bit damage all of them
Plus all have exact short staff pole
If after someone use these banners or copied it . I do not know.
BB figures are or were made in 60s as well Britain swoppets line ACW that start in 1962-1970 approx
I will think it was BB the one may had copied Britain in this case as they copied other brands too in many parts and sets ,but not all.
Regardless the banners were produced by BB too not doubt .
Kent site show the same banner by BB pose in it site link with actual barricade used by generic BB sets that is copied from Crescent.

I believe you, my friend. Being from Alabama, this Confederate flag (whoever made it first) always catches my eye. At one time, I actually had SOME of the Blue Box poses. Kinda liked them.
While I “have your ear”, a friend of mine bought some orange figures from you (I believe), and passed them on to me. Rifles, bows, spear-type weapons. Plug-in arms. They appear to represent Asians. If you, indeed, sold these figures, could you give me some information as to what time period and/or country they represent? Thank you. Mike
Mike.I believe those are the OWN brand that I discovered molds and distribute here.
Entire few post w history of brand and sets were post herevin 2013 and 2014.
If search under OWN name will see then here.
The 8 original poses of those are chinese imperial banner army set for the first sino japanese war .
The company made more sets .I carry 5 of them only.
Best regards.
Erwin, do you still stock OWN figures or have they all been sold?
Mark I run out of mine stock.
Check with Ed please.

Mike,
I got some OWN I’m bringing to OTSN you can look through them there, Chinese Boxers and Chinese dudes in German uniforms. I still have a bunch that are Erwins.
Mark,
If Erwin doesn’t have them I do, they are his anyway. If you are going to OTSN I’ll have them there, room 5203. I have the Chinese boxers and Chinese dressed in Germans unifroms in two different sets.
