Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina

Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina Erwin has a new mystery figure. It is of Che Guevara one of the leaders of the Cuban Revolution.  He is trying to figure who made it.  He would like to know if you can help solve the mystery.

Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina Introduction

For the past 4 years plus this figure is being sold by an Argentina seller.
After spotting the figure and taking a close look. It appears to me is conversion’ The figure is crudely made and poorly over painted base in a toy soldier .
The figures is intended to represent Che or Ernesto Che Guevara. A personfor whom I do not have any empathy; personally.
However I do not bring it for that matter discussion. I want to see if any one could spot the figure from where it could had been made from.
I had post it in Facebook ,two European other blogs and South American blog. No one appear to find out what original figure come from. Neither if  it was made originally in Argentina or else.
Recently the figure was post in another blog that I try help as well but again bring me back to procure some others help if possible .

Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina Historical Inaccuracies.

Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina
My conclusion base in what I know very well about Che and seen thousand of pictures of him since child I can attest that the maker or converter made several bad error.
1-The uniform is complete incorrect .Che used two big pocket shirt only with cold light leather brown jacket over if need too,not a 4 pocket shirt as figure show.

2-
-His pants were US supplied (two pocket) pants and not long boots mid over pants boots but US army Korea era war first and later Vietnam era lower boots .Figure has a tide pants and boots on European army style.

3-
Che barely used his coat longer but inside pants when in CUBA,his coat over pants and longer out as that was after, and was a soviet Russian made 1962 gift that he start using in Africa and in Bolivia.
That was the more later better known see depicted in post CUBA revolution images . .

Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina More Information

4-Che almost all time use a beret ,some times a helmet (In Cuba most time in some combats ) and an army field US camp hat or just nothing .
The figure has a very crude head with what appear to be something else covered or try to be made in to else.

5- Che barely or never used a cross ammo belt as he used Cristóbal Carbine (not a M1 as some think he had) with ammo in his waist belt at all time and a camera hanging often .
Che also and few times only used a M1921AC Thompson
gun with long straight magazines hang in big pouch on left side from his belt.
Figure do not show carbine,Thompson, camera and no ammo in his belt.

6-He also carry his Colt M1911A1-45 cal pistol in his right side with holster very lower hanging .The figures shows none in his right side .

Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina The Figure

Now if the figure was cast original. Itwas very crude made and because I had not see other and all those in other blog either ,included Argentina collectors I incline to believe is a conversion made from another figure.

Because Argentinian toy firms often copied and remold -clone many of British firms in 60s till 80s I’m inclined to think the base figure is of British origin  varied pose made in Argentine.
While simple look the under uniforms remind me of Charben ,Lone Star and Hilco or Speedwell German AK soldiers with open collar 4 pocket shirt and mid high boots ,the pose as far I can see is not identical to those but very close in appearance.

Few links on weapons here in case need reference.
For pictures of Che ,there plenty in internet to see …

Hope some could identify it if possible .Thank you ….

Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina Thoughts

I wondering if the figure is based on a police officer pose.
Note Erwin’s negative feelings toward Che are not only because he was part of the Communist revolution. Che also executed his grandfather for being a spy which he was not.

Greg has sent a picture of  original figure. Here is what he said. He is next to another figure from the set. Wish I knew more about them. This is definitely your phony-baloney Che figure’s origin.

Well, he certainly is crude and ugly. Looks to me like someone converted some one in a Russian uniform. Since the stand is plain and thin I would assume some sort of cheap figure or knock off.

Yes.I agree .The mols mark in back indicate is copy or crude figure, not from important brand .But in Argentina most brands copied from Britain and Italy in few cases .
They varied several brand British set and made the swoppet TIMPO knights and soldiers in to solid poses sets as well.
They also copied and varied MPC too .
      best

My two cents on this is that the figure is a poor copy of the Marx 60mm statue of Davy Crockett. The similiarities are that the “hair” on the painted figure is actually the cap on the original. Also, the Marx figure has a satchel and belt sculpted in which look identical. Some major differences, however, are that the Marx figure is holding a musket (obviously missing) in the outstretched right hand, and the left arm of the Marx figure is bent and resting on the satchel, where the subject here has his arm hanging straight. If I am incorrect, my second guess would be an English-made figure for the English Civil War, due to the cuff showing on the right arm, and the bandolier that seems to be sculpted on. I would nominate Charbens, since the style does not seem to suggest Crescent or Cherilea.

      In my opinion.
The body has a shirt-coat with 4 pockets from obvious very clear modern uniform.I do not think Davy Crockett figure may had been used ,unless the arm and head come from it only.
Admi suggestion is from a police officer from transit may be close as has boots .I never thought of it before .There French ,Spaniards and british many figures of transit police officer made too .
I think is one single pose ,not cut with some repair and a lot crude paint over but hard to get from who..
      best…

  3. TDBarnecut says:

Wait ! That’s not Che at all but it’s his adopted twin brother “Adelberto” 🙂

  4. Mark T. says:

    Looks like a 60mm head on a 54mm body. All-in-all, a very unappealing figure.

  5. Greg Liska says:

The original figure is of an Italian motorcycle cop. I have shown it before. I painted him grey for use with my Italian WWII troops. He was one of 8 poses in the set of police. They are cast in dark, shiny, green, hard plastic. Who made them, I do not know. I picked them up at least in part at flea markets in Germany. I can’t seem to find the pose that was really about the Italian Semovente M-18/75s I’d made.

    • erwin says:

      BINGO Greg ,thanks very much.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes i had ask you before for that set of figures to find out maker too.
please when have chance send to me pictures…
Thanks Paul too for let post it here and inputs in the police pose idea that i agree the moment you say was from.
      Thanks all.

That is one of the purposes of Stadsstuff to share information. There are many mysteries in our hobby. It is fun to see some of them solved.

    • The Semovente M-18/75s are excellent, must try making some of them myself. It looks like the “Che” figure might have originated as a motorcyclist, those big cuffs had me puzzled but they could be bikers gauntlets and the strange headgear a motorcyclist’s helmet.

  6. Howard Ellis says:

On the Mystery Personality Figure Che Guevara Argentina page, Greg posted a picture of tan German tanks and grey Italian SP’s. Could someone please tell me about them and where I could get some? They look great! Thanks.
