Reader’s Contributions Part 3 More August 2017

Reader’s Contributions Part 3 More August 2017 we have two questions from our readers. The first is from Kirk Larson on a German soldier. Next Ed Borris  has a Starlux western figure which he does not know if it is original paint or not.  I will share some  figures from the collection.

Kirk Larson sent us the following photos of a figure he found in a foot locker full of Germans. Kirk recognized the other figures but not this one.

According to Kirk it is obviously a  Fallshirmjaeger(paratrooper). The plastic  is resin-like. Kirk remembers picking up at OTSN, but that’s it. Do you recognize him?

Ed Borris sent this photo of a Starlux cowboy fighting Indian. This is one of the hardest pieces to find. Ed’s question is does the figures have  original paint or its is a repaint. He never had  one before so he is not sure if paint  is correct. the figures feels like someone repainted with enamel.  Other Starlux Ed has had in the past has had almost a dull flaky paint.

Looking at the figures I feel from my experience  on Starlux the paint looks wrong. Give use your thoughts.

The first photo is not from my collection but a Ebay listing.  We have here the MPC stretchers, bed and boxes.  Interestingly MPC never did them in green or olive only in white.

Here is a header card for Payton Mechanized Divison. The set has 35 pieces for  a sale price of $.98. ( It is worth about $8.92 in money today.) The set contain tank, jeep, troop carrier, 20 soldiers, Anti-Air craft gun, K9, mount garbage rack, rifle rack, machine guns, and bazooka.

Cool looking Fallschirmjaeger! What size is he? A set of those to go with the Airfix and Pegasus guys would be nice.

    • Bobby G. Moore says:

I wish Conte or TSSD or CTS would have made a few good sets of late war Fallschirmjaeger. Those are much needed.
      BOBBYGMOORE

  2. Erwin says:

The figure resemble or identical from a metal cast rusian mold often sold in ebay. The same from where (no name) extract many of the poses.
    There three more poses.
Some one use problaby a silicone mold to make in resin.
The seller and maker I belive was from Washington State and sold some at ebay x hight price
I’m not at home now .I had post the russian web site several times here.Once I get home I will find and paste link w poses to see if match…
The starlux looks repainted to me.
The poses were vopied by two DDR manufactute and Polish too.
    Best…

  3. ed borris says:

At one time TSSD had some Fallshirmjaeger’s they were are hard plastic can’t remember who made. We had some at one time, but sold them all. That pose looks familiar, almost identical to one made by TSSD, except TSSD’s was a long coat German I believe.

  4. Jack Gibbons says:

Pegasus made the German paratroopers in a hard styrene plastic. Nice display figures, but very fragile weapons.

I, too, thought of the TSSD winter-coat German with the pose above.

  5. Daniel Murphy says:

The medieval guy was part of a three man artillery crew that came with a large Simba castle. Scroll down and you can make him out here:

  6. ERWIN SELL says:

Also is that FALLSCHIRMJAGER the one Stengels Jr was trying to do ?.
I heard he was making a set of then or poses, maybe i’m wrong !!??
So far i check the TIN two russian brands and not see that pose ,but i had not check other…

  7. ed borris says:

He started to make those plus some viking and Normans, but all that ever showed up were his prototypes and I hear the molds got destroyed.

  8. ed borris says:

I had a revelation, the Fallschirmjaeger is made by Plastic Underground. Around 7 or 8 years ago he made four or five sculpts, and that is the pose I had. I knew he looked familiar , but I couldn’t put my finger on it. He made his in black and they are plastic resin. I sold mine a long time ago at OTSN or Indy.

  9. ed borris says:

Funny if you think about it, he may have bought it from me.

  10. ed borris says:

I verified with Plastic Underground and that is for certain one of his sculpts.
