MFCA  2008

Overview of the show

Laurie and I decide to go to the MFCA as we both of us had the day off. Also our very good friend Gerry Watts had some figures for us to identified. The show had moved from Valley Forge to Wilmington Delaware. Using Mapquest we got to the show with no problems. We paid our admission fee and headed in. The first person we found was Gerry Watts with his son. He told us the show promoters had at first said they did not have any tables for him. Gerry was able to correct them very quickly and he was able to get tables. We took a quick glance at his wares and said we would be back.

Mark Hegeman's six inch Figures for sale

We looked at the show. The room was much nicer than the previous location. We started to walk around and found our friend Mark Hegeman who was selling a wide range of Marx figures. Mark was next to Kerry Dunstable. We continued to walk around and we saw several other people we know such as George Guerrio who had his diorama display pieces plus a range of metal and plastic. John Stengel was there with ranges of plastic in 1/72 scale and larger. There were a number of plastic figure dealers missing including Glen Finke and Joe Saine.

Looking for plastic was very disappointing at the show. I was able to find a number of things from Gerry Watts for resale, but what I bought from other dealers was very poor. I was able to buy two rubber East German figures one is an Indian chief laying with rifle and cowboy with gun out reaching for another one . I like this figure for the pose. I also got from the same dealer a 40mm modern German army flag bearer. We purchased from Ron Rudell of London Bridge a composition Indian army man saluting. Ron believes it was made in Italy. One dealer had Mokarex and Cafe Storme figures at reasonable prices and I bought a group for resale on Ebay. Other than a few odds and ends that was it. None of the new items like Pegasus figures were available as they still being shipped to the states.  Only Rick Eber had any Marx Playsets. Rick had Marx Gunsmoke playset plus some other tough one for sale.

After about two hours we decided to leave. On the way out we caught the figures and dioramas for the competition.  The number of items entered looked down as well. From what I heard the crowd was done as well.
