Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show
Stadsstuff
Laurie and I decided to do a new show the Gettysburg Toy Soldier Show. The show was held at the Best Western Gettysburg Hotel in the center of Gettysburg. I was able to get the day off from the human job so we thought we take a look. The trip to Gettysburg was a pleasant two hour and fifteen minutes ride. We had to go around the block trying to find the parking as we did not know where the parking lot was. We found a a spot on the street and headed to the show. The show was held in two rooms. The smaller of the two rooms has a big display from Britains. Also sharing the room was Michigan Toy Soldier selling their Del Prado line. After looking at the Britains display we headed to the larger room. The room had many of the dealers we had seen at the MFCA, but there were several new dealers.
Tony Greco at his table
One of the new dealers for us was Tony Greco. We have known Tony for many years. Tony had a nice mix of plastic and metal figures, which we found some items for resale. To his left was Mike and Noreen Russo from Stockade Miniatures who also had plastic and metal. They had decided to skip MFCA. While we were at Tony's table our very good friend John showed up. I was surprised to see him as I thought he would do the flea markets. He told us that the Extravaganza a big flea market had been tough. He found some items, but it required good hunting. I bought a couple of bags off of him and head around to see other new dealers.
Joe Falce watching his stand as collector looks through his figures
Joe had come from Western Pennsylvania with his friend Calvin to try out the show. I was able buy a number of items from Joe including the Forbidden Planet Figures done by M S Oliver. The figures are very nice if you are into science fiction. I also got some Timmee Clowns and Auburn cowboys from Alan Ford, who we had seen at MFCA show . Rick Eber had put up two nice displays of Marx Playsets: Civil War and Untouchables. It was nice to see the playsets on display and I was able to get some great pictures.
We left after hour and half and headed home. The show needs to find larger location as the aisles were very tight. Also a number of dealers who wanted to do the show could not get in. The show is supposedly expanding next year.
